I continue to hear confusing reports about owner participation on flexible rents. Here's the FSA ruling of April 2, 2007:

Thanks, Rick,
This should really help clear up any confusion on the FSA document

Hi, Rick,
May I put this email, plus your email of April 12,07, plus the attachment describing DCP-172 of April 2, 07, Impact of Various Lease Arrangements on DCP Participation, on my website, www.DHDoster.com ? As I continue to write rent articles and read press articles others have written, I find there's still confusion about what DCP-172 says. Rather than quote it, I would like to post it for persons to read themselves.

Howard:
Here is a copy of the notice regarding flexible leases. The notice indicates if the flexibility is based on factors external to the farm, it would be classified as a cash lease. If the lease is based on performance on the farm, it is a share lease.
